sleeping comfortably.

While I was browsing Instagram, I saw a friend posted a photo of her kid’s bedroom furniture. It’s called room-in-a-box and comes with several designs that I would want for my kids: Disney princesses for my daughter and Toy Story for my son. A set includes a bed, a toy chest, a table and 2 chairs. They are inexpensive yet very cute (not to mention almost complete) to make up a kid’s room.

I maybe buying inexpensive furniture but I intend to invest on Luxury Mattress for each of the kids and another one for the master’s bedroom. This is to ensure proper sleeping position and a good night sleep. I’ve been browsing for luxury mattresses at The White Company. They carry a variety of comfortable and supportive mattresses. I am especially on the lookout of mattress with anti-bacterial layer, just an extra feature that I want for my kids’ beds that are said to prevent dust mites from reproducing. A little luxury that’s definitely worth the money.

Then I guess I could scrimp on the bed sheets and comforters, right?

on my list.

I love lists. It makes my life, err, a little organized. I have become forgetful and lists make my life more manageable. Today, I thought of listing down how I’d run the household when we move in to our new place, and keeping my sanity at the same time. It started with a bullet type of list but I ended up with a web looking list, with overlapping items. The OC in me got too detailed that I even have cable management on my list.

Well I just thought this is the best time to plan, while I haven’t given birth to our son, and just months before we move in. I just have to put all the ideas (for the new house, shopping for new baby stuff, giving birth, baptismal party, etc) I have into writing or I might end getting too stressed out just carrying all these thoughts. Sigh.

home decor and design ideas

I am enjoying when I’m browsing different websites to get inspirations on interior designs and decors. I like to plan what theme would be for each part of our house. I have decided on some things but not everything. I think it would zap most of the excitement if everything has been decided on. I must admit I have some ideas on what wallpaper and designer upholstery fabric I want. But yes, just “I”, not yet “we” so that’s only 50% of the decision for the wallpaper and fabric only, for the living area only. I have one more year to decide, and to enjoy this. Yippee!

a tiny cute house.

I am fascinated by the things I find on the web. I sometimes hop from one site to another, jumping from one topic to another. I once chanced upon this very small prefab home. It is so tiny that one can tow it and make it a trailer home. It has everything one needs, a living area, dining area, a kitchen and a bed. But I must say only one person can live comfortably in it. I wonder if this type of houses is covered by any manufactured home insurance.

The small house has that homey feel that I think a trailer van lacks. Why, one can even make it look country style, eclectic or modern. Nice!

today’s measurements

Earlier today, I measured the rooms here upstairs including the windows and the doors. I think my obsessive compulsive tendencies got fired up. We plan to move from one room to another to have more space for the new baby, so I had to measure the appliances and furniture in our current room and if all would fit on the second room plus a baby crib. Even little things like a chair with defective casters, I included in my measurements. I’ll have the chair fixed this summer. Every little inch, I just had to measure.

I created a layout in Photoshop, using the pixels to simulate the inches. I’m quite satisfied with the finished layout (it looks a bit cartoonish as I used colored boxes for the furniture and appliances hahaha). Now, I just need to show this to someone who will estimate how much the minor renovation would cost.

day dreaming eh?

Believe it or not, I’ve decided on what our living room would look like even if we’re more than a year away from moving in to our new house.

Well, I just know what chandeliers to use, not too big, and not too grand as our place is just small. I imagine the hanging pieces to be few and thin. I know what wall paper and paint colors I want to have, and which wall will have wall paper and which won’t. And of course, the colors of the upholstery (and even the store where I’ll have them made. Hihihi)

But that’s just the living room. Still got plenty of time to think about the rest of the house. ;)

woot woot!

We are currently on a very disciplined budget plan while paying for our house. Disciplined meaning I am not allowed to book, seat sale or not, a flight for the family within or out of the country this year and even next year. Groceries, weekend dine-outs,car insurance, tuition fees and birthday celebrations are all accounted for. I have successfully closed 2 credit cards and will close the last one next month. So I’m giving myself a “pat on the back”.

choosing a house

More and more people are becoming aware of the dangers of using asbestos in houses. But let’s face it. There are more people buying ready-made or pre-owned houses than buying a lot and building a house on their own. So no wonder there are still houses with asbestos, people suffering from related diseases and Mesothelioma lawsuits. This same reason why we are closely monitoring the construction of the house we purchased (at pre-selling). I want to make sure the materials used are safe.

I can’t wait to move in… and use this adorable kit (again as I used it in making Mikee’s yearbook page last March).

4 hours each day?

It was on August 2nd that I blogged that I was busy digiscrapping. Alas, I wasn’t able to scrap from then on. I finished only 2 scrap pages (makes one spread that I honestly want to re-scrap) and 1 spread. And I was hoping to finish 2 photo books by end of the month. U-oh!

I tried so hard to set aside some time for scrapping. But somehow, I end up browsing for books, toys and house items such as cheap laminate flooring that I remember my sister was looking for. There are just too many “beautiful” distractions. Haha.

I actually timed myself. It takes me 4 hours to choose my photos, kits to use (this is the reason why I stick to just one kit and do not mix and match. I simply do not have time), decide on the layout (or simply choose the template to use) and do the page itself. The journaling part is easy as I refer to my blog entries most of the time.

Well, I really hope I can finish even just one photo book. Argh!

got it!

Earlier today, we went to my sister’s (and brother-in-law’s) house for the first time. On the way there, I suddenly thought I should have brought a house-warming gift! Yikes! I kept thinking if we should drop by a mall to buy something. Although my sister loves acne body washes, I don’t think that would count as a house-warming gift. Well anyway, husband an I decided we just give them something that is not bought in a rush.

While showing their house, I noticed that her hamper doesn’t match the rest of their furniture and wall, so there, I know what to get them!
